What's it worth? Appraisal for antique oak dresser

Tammy asks: How much is this oak chest of drawers worth? It was in my family for many years and I believe it to be an antique.

It was left to me, but it’s really not my style, I am more into contemporary furnishings. What could I realistically get for it if I were to sell it? It has the original finish.

AW says:  That’s a nice solid oak or elm chest of drawers from the American Victorian period. Circa 1910, give or take a few years. It looks to have the original bail handles which is a good thing and it appears to be in very nice condition.

The backsplash has an applied carved ornament on it of a Chippendale style. I’m going to give you 3 prices as I usually do with many appraisals, you’ll likely be able to get in the middle price range without too much hard work.

If you wanted to hold out for retail, you could achieve a higher price, but right now as I’m writing this, retail is very tough to get. If you’d like more details on how to sell your book, I suggest you take a look at “How to Sell Your Valuables
